"The Night Thoreau Spend in Jail" A Play
This excellent play is based on the early life of Thoreau, presenting events out of chronological order to capture the character of the man, and leading up to his night spent in the jail of Concord, Mass. because he refused to pay a tax due to his opposition to the Mexican-American war. The play will be skillfully read by Fellowship members, provoking delight, thoughtfulness, some historical perspective, and more familiarity with two great men.
