Religious Exploration (RE)
Purpose:
Welcome to the Vashon Island Unitarian Fellowship and our Religious Exploration program for children and youth!
We serve ages 0-15 in experiencing a welcoming community and exploring their values & beliefs. Our RE program works to give each child or youth a strong identity as a Unitarian Universalist, knowledge of stories and traditions of other world religions, and experience living our beliefs through social and environmental action. We combine classes with activities and special programs so the younger members and friends of the Vashon UU Fellowship will find an active, educational and fun experience each Sunday.
We meet every Sunday from September through June, 9:30 – 10:30. On the 1st, 3rd & 5th Sundays we meet as a congregation for the first 15 minutes of the Sunday Service and participate in Joys and Concerns. After the Story for All Ages the children go to their classes where the basis of their instruction and activities are the Unitarian Universalist Principles. On the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month the focus is on multi-age activities, including field trips and social action projects.
Our Fellowship cherishes our children and consciously works to make sure they are an integral part of our congregation, not separate and apart.
Throughout the year we all come together for celebrations and commemorations. This year we look forward to:
